    A Sense of Scale is a travel fine art photography print inspired by my travels and photography experiences in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Taj Mahal, in the midst of the chaos and crowds, there is always a chance for quiet contemplation. The small human figure emphasises the sheer scale of the Taj Mahal contrasting beautifully and evoking a sense of calm and quiet.

    The ever popular Dead Vlei, an amazing salt pan near Sossusvlei, is is iconic for it's dead trees amongst the red sand dunes creating some beautiful contrasts. It's always my ambition to attempt my own interpretation of a popular scene, hopefully I have given a different version for you to enjoy. Namibia is a wild, isolated and breathtaking landscape with some iconic and beautiful landscapes, this dead tree surrounded by red dunes as far as the eye can see in the middle a salt pan, defying the weather and harsh conditions standing frozen in time.

    The way I have presented this image is to demonstrate the way in which we, as humans, interact with the environment and the nature of globalisation and cultural homogenisation. To me, it represents an interesting commentary on the concept of human progress. It was awarded a Gold Distinction at the recent AIPP APPA awards.
